Google Search Console — step by step
Open GSC
Go to search.google.com/search-console → sign in with Google account you will keep.
Add property
Add property → URL prefix → enter https://yoursite.com exactly.
Verify
DNS TXT record at domain registrar (recommended) OR upload HTML file to site root.
Submit sitemap
Sitemaps → add yoursitemap.com/sitemap.xml → Request indexing for home URL.
Common failure points
- Wrong URL (http vs https, www vs non-www)
- No sitemap
- Never checking Indexing report
